Kayak Shack owner Wynand Baerken immigrated to Nova Scotia in 2000. Originally from the Netherlands and with an extended background in the commercial diving industry and marine safety coordination for the motion picture business, he started Chester Marine Services Ltd. In 2010 he returned as marina manager at the Atlantica Hotel and Marina Oak Island. The Kayak Shack was added and offers Sea Kayak, Bicycle rentals and Boat tours.
Kayak Shack manager Naomi Hughes runs the Marina office and rental store and started working for the company in 2009.
